Partial Foot Prostheses

Marka: Ottobock

In Chopart amputations, the talus and calcaneus are not amputated. Since the anatomical structure of the heel is not impaired in Chopart amputations, they can walk by stepping on the stump. This is an advantage for the patient for short distance walks at home. The person can meet their domestic needs by increasing the load on the heel without a prosthesis. However, the most important point in Chopart amputations is the difficulty in performing the pushing phase. The amputee who cannot do the pushing phase tries to hit the heel and gets tired quickly. For this reason, the patient should use prosthesis in medium and long-term walks and daily activities. With the prosthesis, the patient can perform his daily activities more comfortably and with less fatigue.

Syme amputation is a form of amputation (deserticulation) in which all foot bones are removed from the ankle joint and the distal end protrusions of the tibia and fibula are shaved off. The difference from ankle diserticulation is the shaving of the malleolus. Body weight can be carried distal to the stump. In Syme prostheses, the prosthesis types that can be used according to the distance in the other healthy foot may be more diverse than the chopart type.
